With the final matches of the Undead Cup taking place over the next week or so, coach Sam V Coach Dave for 3rd & 4th places & Coach Dan V Coach Lee in the cup play off (come on you Lizards), it is time to open up the signing up for the the second tournement – THe Blood Bath Challenge Cup (BBC Cup). So any coaches out there who want to do battle sign up here & watch out for the games been announced. All coaches who have a team on the data base are welcome.

We have four teams for the first tournament of the season, The Undead cup. The matches have been posted on the official notice board so all that is left to say is coaches prepare your teams for battle!

The matches can be played in any order so it is up to the coaches to organise when to play the match, challenges can be posted here.

The rankings at the end of the tournament will give you league points with the bottom team getting 1 point and so on. The top two teams can play off against each other to decide top points (though this is an optional rule that is there mainly for if a tournament has 2 pools of teams)

As I suspected it would, my attempt to upgrade the database to enable people to play the new teams (Chaos Pact for example) has lead to the whole thing getting buggered to high heaven.

No doubt someone who was more skilled in MySQL databases than me could have probably upgraded without incident, but I couldn’t.

So I’ve had to set up a completely different database to handle the new season. This means that effectively we’re starting again from scratch and the old teams are now no longer playable. I’m really sorry, but I’ve spent around 4 hours trying to fix things and I can’t.

On the bright side, we are now up to date with the most current version of Blood Bowl, and the new teams are now available.

You can download the new rulebook here under competition rules. This is effectively the living rulebook version 6 rules and according to Lee are the rules we will be using (mainly because that the rules the database uses).

I must point out that due to the incredibly high levels of frustration I’ve experienced throughout this process I have no completely lost my sense of humor regarding it. So don’t give me crap about it please, I did my best.

The opening tournement of season 3 is the return of the undead cup, the inclusion of a undead player in the team has been lifted (unless the coaches decide to include that optional rule). So any coaches wishing to take part in this cup need to sign up now! The matches will be posted on Tuesday and will be played over the next 3 weeks. If anyone would like any additional rules for this cup please post them for the other coaches to vote on.

Due to commitment problems and some complaining I have got a suggestion of how to get season 3 going so that it will allow more flexible games. I have just updated this original post so please feel free to comment but please remember it is in possible to keep all of the coaches happy all of the time so a little bit of flexibility would be welcome.

Welcome Coaches, thank you for being a part of season 3 of the Broken Sword Blood Bowl League. With the departure of Commish Dan to focus on his coaching (lets face it after last seasons effort he needs too) I have been appointed the new Commish so here is how i suggest the league goes ahead.

The Format.
The league will be played in mini tournaments each 1 running for 3 – 4 weeks anyone who wants to take part in the tournament can sign up when that tournament is posted. It will be played in a round robin format with teams playing each other once (if a lot of teams in tournament then 2 pools can be made) the top 2 teams then have a tournament final to decide the winner. Points are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the tournament and the team with highest points at end of all tournaments wins league. This way you only have to play 3 (or 4 if you are in the final) games over a month to be apart of the league and you can just be apart of one tournament at a time that fits in with you.

House Rules
The use of the season 1 rules is fine with me though I’m sure we made changes for a reason If anyone can define what those rules where can you please help me out and post them here.
The house rules have been ammeneded to try and gain more coaches.
1) All teams starting season 3 will be new (however from season 4 onwards teams can be carried on).
2) MVP at end of match is decided at random from all players
3) Additional living rulebook teams can be used (this is if my technical support can add it to the data base – let us know Dan).
4) All inducements are available for use in a match including cards.

Start of Season
The season starts on the 9th August all teams who want to take part in first tournament must be on database by end of that week and I will post the invite to the first tournament for coaches to sign upto during that week. once I know who wants to play in 1st tournament the coaches could agree on any special rules or conditions for just that tournament but all coaches in it must agree otherwise it is the standard rules.

Welcome Blood Bowl fans, Grandel Boneknasher here to report live on the Season 2 semi final draw.
Now that the blood has been mopped up and the lizard limbs have been removed from the pitch after a brutal and death filled match between The Hand of Despair and the Abyssal Horde we await the arrival of Acting Commish Lee to make the draw, and here he is accompanied by the winning Coach of the match Coach Mush.

Lets go live to the pitch and the draw;

The Howling Banshee Vs The Wind Lords

The Hand of Despair Vs The Abyssal Horde.

We should have some exciting matches there lets hope that The Hand of Despair have enough players left alive to make a good game of it.

That concludes the draw all semi finals need to be played in the next 3 weeks so good luck.’

After the bumpy road season 2 has given, may I put forward the following suggestions for all coaches to consider and contribute to.

1. Season 3 starts mid May (allowing some coaches to return to the league and the others to sort out their team)
2. All coaches start with a new team.
3. All teams start with a fan factor of 0
4. MVP is decided with a d6 roll not d4
5. A card allowance is given to any team that loose 3 matches in a row for them to spend on that match (more matches lost in a row the higher the card allowance – to be allocated by commish)
6. A TD handicap to be placed on teams that have more than 400k TV above opponent.
7. A cup tounament to run along side league that is a round robin and then knockout (cup does not effect league)
8. Players using claws should not get SPP’s if they cause injuries (stab and secret weapon dont get any if used)

Additional rules for consideration:
9. Teams only play a set number of games rather than having a time limit (8-10 matches suggested)
10. Additional living rulebook rules and teams are included (warning this may cause difficulties with league database)
11. Existing teams can be used in season 3 (TV limit may have to be considered if this one is to be used)

Point 8 ammendment: No SPP’s for any player who uses claws who is coached by Mush

These are just some of my ideas so tell me if you like any and add any of your own that could help the league run well.

Acting Commish Lee

Good afternoon great coaches of the Broken Sword Blood Bowl League, acting Commish Lee here with a proposal for how to conclude season 2.

I am suggesting that the play offs for league champion takes place over the last 2 weeks of April so that the champion can be crowned before the start of May.

So that will give 2 more weeks of normal games before the semi final draw so any coach wishing to reach those play offs or guarantee their place need to issue challenges here!

Welcome to the 6th week of the league. After a quiet 5th week we are hoping for some big games this week (and maybe even a win for those poor Dark Elves, I think its all the time they spent underground that has warped their minds).

So let the challenges be made and the battles for those points be bloody and brutal (it always is that way if your called coach Mush and have magic dice:)
